The Storify of this Town Hall is now available!
We, the organizing committee of ScienceOnlineDC, have been deciding the topics, choosing the speakers, and leading the discussions so far, but in 2014, we’d like to take a different approach. DC is a unique town with its meld of science researchers, policymakers, educators, and communicators. And we want you, the motley crew you are, to share your expertise or come with your questions about how to do this science-communicating thing well.
What online science communication skills do scientists need?
Join us on Wednesday, March 5, from 5:30-7:30 PM for a Simpsons-style town hall event where we’ll throw out ideas about what online communication skills scientists, no matter what stage of their career, should know. We’ll take that list of skills and use them for future ScioDC topics this year, delving into the hows, along with the barriers, challenges, and opportunities, of integrating those skills into training programs.
5:30 Gather for pizza and refreshments
6:00 Discussion starts
7:30 Wrap-up and head to SciTweetUp
We’ll have a couple of experts on-hand to help keep the discussion moving, and the conversation will continue at a SciTweetUp (details forthcoming). And given the format of this event, we won’t have a livestream available this time around.
